This year has flown by. Some days it seems like I just arrived in Taiwan. I remember shortly after arriving last year I attended my first Dragon Boat Festival in Taipei. This year I went with two of my coworkers to the Nanliao festival.
Much smaller than the Taipei event, it was still nice. I ate an Indian burrito, some Gan Mian (dry noodles) and pizza. I'm not too fond of the rice dumplings that are so popular this time of year. The story behind the festival is kind of morbid (click on the link above to view the history) but the boat races are entertaining and as it's a National holiday the locals are in good spirits.
Passing my one year mark here has brought about another episode of intense reflection and musing relating to where I'm going with my life (not that I don't think too much, like all the time) but I still believe I'm supposed to come back to Taiwan for an indeterminate amount of time.
